Alcañiz, the capital of Bajo Aragón, is located on the meander formed by the Guadalope River as it “embraces” the Pui-Pinos hill. Its name, of Arabic origin, refers to the reeds or canes, which are present in its coat of arms. Along with its name, it holds the titles of “city,” “loyal,” “very loyal,” and “heroic” due to Alcañiz’s bravery in various battles.
